We understand that your first physical therapy appointment can seem intimidating. You’re experiencing pain and you’re not sure what to expect. Read through the following tips and information about your first visit to help put your mind at ease.
What to Wear:
Since you will be stretching and exercising, we recommend you bring comfortable, unrestrictive clothing or athletic wear to all your treatments. Your clothes should allow us to evaluate your area of injury, so please dress accordingly.
As for footwear, we suggest comfortable, closed-toe shoes – tennis shoes are perfect. We also recommend against any type of heel. If you have any questions, please contact us prior to your first appointment.
What to Expect:
Please arrive 20 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment and check in with our receptionist upon arrival.
At each visit, you will work with a member of our physical therapists, who will instruct and supervise your care. As you reach specific treatment goals, you will progress to new levels, treatments and exercises. At the end of each visit, your therapist will answer any questions you may have.
The length of your treatment plan and frequency of visits is based on your specific injury/condition, the physician prescription, your insurance plan and the therapist’s recommended treatment plan.
What to Bring:
When you head out the door for your first appointment, there are a few items we ask you to bring:
- Your insurance card
- Your driver’s license or photo ID
- If you were referred to us by a physician, please remember your prescription
